According to Sky Sports, Atalanta manager Maurizio Sarri said that despite the team's 1-2 defeat to Cagliari, he is less worried than he was in previous matches.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Sarri said: "In Rome, we had a chance to win, but we didn't play a 'Sarri-style' game. Unlike tonight, that game was better in terms of intensity, pressing, and dominance. We pressed our opponents very low and had 22 shots, but there were mistakes and inaccurate decisions. Nevertheless, I saw a more solid foundation than before."
"Will the international break help us? There are 23 to 27 players from the first team and U23 who will be reporting to the national team, so we can only train with a small number of players and can't do much. Tonight I'm much less worried than in the previous games. The team's physical condition is improving, and in terms of creating chances and output, we could have taken more opportunities."
Sarri added: "Although Kessie and Rove had limited playing time before, I felt the team's physical condition was clearly improving. In the final stages of the game, it was like there was a wall in the penalty area, which was indeed difficult, but we have the foundation to continue refining. It's unfortunate that I feel sorry for the players and fans, but I am much less worried now than in the previous games."
When asked whether Gaetano's suspension would affect the team, Sarri said: "Gianluca played very well, but Kessie didn't disappoint anyone. He hadn't played since the World Cup and only recently started training again. There's no doubt he'll become just as important to us as Gaetano."
