Sohaib spoke about his relationship with the player on the program "TardeAR".
The Barcelona player's friend made no secret of Yamar's personality in private. "We spend time together whenever we have the chance... He's like a brother to me," he said on the Mediaset program hosted by journalist Ana Rosa Quintana.
During the video call, Sohaib revealed that the two had known each other since they were very young, having become acquainted in a park in Rocafonta.
“He started playing football when he was six years old, and you could already see his talent back then. I told him that if he wanted to, he could become the best in the world, but he had to believe it himself,” he said. And he proved to be absolutely right.
On the other hand, Sohaib admitted that Yamal's current success has not changed his character. "He still talks about the same things he used to talk about, exactly the same as before, nothing has changed, which is what his family instilled in him. He's very down-to-earth, like a kid from the neighborhood, not arrogant at all," he said in TardeAR.
Whenever he gets the chance, this Barcelona number 10 will draw the number 304 with his hand to celebrate a goal, paying tribute to Rocafonta. This number corresponds to the last three digits of the postcode of his hometown neighborhood (08304).
Sohaib revealed that it was his suggestion: "It was during the youth team's Copa del Rey match. We were in the neighborhood, and he wanted to prove himself. So I told him we could do the 304, because we've always said that number. It worked really well, and he's kept that celebration ever since."
