The Sun: 100,000 people sign petition against FIFA President Gianni Infantino

According to The Sun, more than 100,000 people have signed a complaint against FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The "rebooting FIFA" campaign continues to gain traction, and 56-year-old Gianni Infantino remains embroiled in controversy.

Following the 2026 World Cup, Gianni Infantino's close relationship with US President Donald Trump has raised particular concerns.

The FIFA president has been accused of "abusing his power, violating his duty of political neutrality, and violating his duty of loyalty."

The “Reboot FIFA” campaign was launched before the World Cup and aimed to expose the numerous problems that the organization was believed to have.

FIFA's decision to overturn the red card sentencing of American player Balogun has further fueled the controversy during the tournament.

Recently, with the cancellation of FIFA's Forward Corporate initiative, the number of signatures for this campaign has soared to an astonishing 100,000.

On Tuesday, “Reboot FIFA” and the advocacy group Fairplatz filed a complaint with FIFA’s Ethics Committee, demanding action against Gianni Infantino.

Fair Square wrote in a letter: "The fact that 100,000 people have left their names demanding accountability clearly demonstrates that public concerns are growing."

"As an independent judicial body responsible for upholding the integrity and reputation of football, the Ethics Commission must not only act, but also demonstrate its actions with appropriate speed, transparency, and rigor."

The Norwegian Football Federation has publicly endorsed an initial complaint filed in December 2025; however, the committee has not responded.

After FIFA awarded the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize to Trump last year, Infantino's political neutrality was once again questioned.

This comes as Gianni Infantino faces increasing pressure after 10 years at the helm of FIFA.

The English Football Association withdrew its support for Gianni Infantino last month, and Wales had previously made a similar decision.

Subsequently, UEFA filed a criminal lawsuit against FIFA for failing to sell its World Cup shares.

However, Infantino still has the support of Argentina and US President Trump.

It has been confirmed that Infantino will seek re-election in March 2027; he initially announced the decision in April.

If re-elected, Gianni Infantino will continue to serve as FIFA president until 2031.
