According to the Daily Mail, Giggs revealed that he tried to persuade Elliott Anderson to join Manchester United on the golf course, but Anderson told him not to bother him while he was playing.
Anderson was once Manchester United's top midfield target this summer, but they fell behind Manchester City in the race. Manchester City eventually signed Anderson for £116 million this summer, while Manchester United brought in Tielemans, Carlos Baleba and Andre Santos as part of their midfield rebuild.
Ahead of Anderson's first Manchester derby match this weekend, Giggs said in "Rio Ferdinand Presented: In-Depth Analysis" that he had tried to persuade the England star to turn down Manchester City's pursuit.
Giggs said he met Anderson on a golf course a few days before the World Cup while on vacation.
Giggs told Ferdinand: "That was really just a few days before he went to the World Cup. I kept talking to him about it."
He said, "At first, he didn't know how to respond, but he relaxed a bit later. But for the first four or five holes, we were really going head-to-head. Finally, he said to me, 'Just let me be quiet, leave me alone. Can't you just let me play golf? You're in trouble.'"
