Sheringham believes that while Kane performed brilliantly last season, his performances in the Champions League and the World Cup did not reach the highest standards, thus making him unworthy of the 2026 Ballon d'Or.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Sheringham stated that Kane is not his choice for the Ballon d'Or.
"Will he get my vote? Probably not. I think he's had a fantastic season, but usually the Ballon d'Or winner is someone who wins the Champions League, the World Cup, or other major competitions. He hasn't quite achieved that, so in my opinion, he's just a runner-up. Sorry, Harry!"
When asked who he would vote for, Sheringham chose Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, believing the Spanish midfielder deserves to win again.
Sheringham said: "He's a leader, and the teams he plays for usually win week after week. Manchester City, Spain, both. I know he's left Manchester City now, but whichever team he plays for, that team wins."
